# RunningTotal

Calculates the running total (cumulative sum) of values from the first row up to the current row within a partition.

**Category:** `window`

**Syntax:**

```
RunningTotal([column])
```

**Returns:** `Same as input type`

**Context Filtering:** ✓ Yes

## Parameters

| Name     | Type     | Required | Description                                       |
| -------- | -------- | -------- | ------------------------------------------------- |
| `column` | `column` | ✓ Yes    | The numeric column to calculate running total for |

**Allowed Column Types for `column`:** INT, FLOAT, DECIMAL, NUMBER

## Validation

* Minimum parameters: 1
* Maximum parameters: 1

## Examples

```
RunningTotal([Sales])
```

Returns the running total of sales from the first row to the current row.

```
RunningTotal([Revenue])
```

Calculates running total revenue, useful for tracking year-to-date or month-to-date totals.

```
RunningTotal([Order_Amount])
```

Tracks cumulative order amounts over time, showing how the total grows with each order.
