# MonthName

Returns the name of the month component from a specified datetime value.

**Category:** `date`

**Syntax:**

```
MonthName([date_column])
```

**Returns:** `StringColumn`

**Context Filtering:** ✓ Yes

## Parameters

| `date_column` | `column\|datetime` | ✓ Yes    | The date to extract month name from. |

**Allowed Column Types:** DATETIME, DATE

## Validation
